Our most frequently asked question while we’re manning the sluice is: “How does the water get back up there?”
So…here’s the story….
We were traversing the Himalayan mountains gathering salt crystals for our gift shop when we heard the legend of Podro the Miner, so we hunted him down. It took us weeks to find him! He's a short, skinny dude with a long beard. He wears a funky hat and carries a pick axe. We were informed that Podro was actually a Shaman and had the ability to make gemstones magically appear in sand ... and it was said he could also make water appear out of thin air! Naturally, we were skeptical of this, but we decided to offer him a plane ticket to visit our location at Deep Creek Lake to see if he could help us. We needed the water to flow from our water tower to our mining sluice and we weren’t sure how to accomplish this. We also needed gemstones to magically appear ... in order to make the children smile!
Well, Podro said he didn’t need to visit us…that he could just make it happen right from his residence in the Himalayas, which was actually a crystal cave that gave off an orange glow. You could see it from a mile away!
Anyway, when we returned to Deep Creek, the water from our barrel was magically flowing and the children are finding gemstones everywhere! We are forever grateful to Podro…so much so, we’ve made him our mascot !
